March 2026 Relationship Builder Event Reflection
March 27, 2026 until March 31, 2026
McClintock Bay Resort, Swan Haven Drive, Marsh Lake, YT, Canada
Join us at McClintock Bay to meet new people and dive into participant-led activities.
We are still carrying the energy and connection from our March 2026 Relationship Builder event at McClintock Bay Resort. Over five days, 20 men came together to learn, create, and support each other in a safe, welcoming, land-based environment.
The weather was beautiful, with sunny days that encouraged outdoor activity and connection. Each morning, participants dove into hands-on skill-building activities, led by men who brought their skills, knowledge, and leadership to each session:
Practicing Tai Chi
Leather work, making knife sheaths
Assembling model cars
Crafting paddles
Skidooing adventures
One of the highlights of the week was the wall tent setup exercise. It is a playful and engaging icebreaker, building teamwork, camaraderie, and confidence. For those who chose, the wall tents became their sleeping cabins for the week, creating a fully immersive, land-based experience.
Afternoons were dedicated to structured discussions and group exercises, giving participants the chance to contribute their thoughts on the future of The Nelson Project. Topics included membership, affiliated groups, and the planning and structure of upcoming Relationship Builder events. These sessions were intentionally designed to include participant perspectives in shaping the organization’s programs and direction.
Evenings offered gentle, optional recreation such as fat biking, kicksledding, a try at ice fishing, and gathering around the outdoor fireplace pit, surrounded by chairs. This was a favourite spot for reflection, sharing stories, and simply being together. These moments were about connection, curiosity, and being present together, experiencing the land and each other’s company without judgment or pressure.
What stood out most was the presence and openness of the men themselves. By showing up fully, sharing their stories, skills, and energy, they brought the event to life. It was five days of learning, creating, reflecting, and connecting, a reminder of the strength and insight that comes when people come together on the land with patience, care, and attentiveness.
