Thomas spent the first decade of his career in Ottawa leading the development of social policies and programs, culminating with ground-breaking work on the state of Canada’s pension system. He left Ottawa for Whitehorse in 2009 to begin a new chapter in his career working with Indigenous people in the North. Thomas is now President of two social-purpose businesses: Social Innovation Consulting Inc. and Lateral Kindness Inc. Thomas has a B.A. in Political Science from McGill University and a Master’s in Social Work from Carleton University. Thomas has always believed in the potential of human beings to recover from the most painful experiences and build a good life that aligns with their highest values. Thomas is happily married to Mara Pollock and is the proud father of Ella and Sadie.
